Canine Wellness Massage & Reiki

Our goal at Healthy Pets NH is to create better relationships between animals and their humans through the proper education of both species.  We offer canine wellness massage and reiki services as well as a Wellness Massage for Pets class and individual wellness massage classes.

Canine Wellness Massage

Canine Wellness Massage works with the soft tissues and energy fields of the body to promote relaxation, improved body awareness and flexibility, and improve overall health and wellness. Wellness Massage can provide a sense of ease and comfort (particularly to geriatric animals) while relieving muscle and joint soreness and strengthening the immune system.
The session length is determined by the size of the animal as well as their tolerance to the session.  While the practitioner has a basic massage routine, what the session actually looks like is guided by the pet.  Some animals are very receptive to the work and allow the practitioner to do a whole body routine.  Others can tolerate only small doses of the work or techniques done on only certain parts of their body.  The session could last only a few minutes or could go upwards of 30-45 minutes.

We also offer a 90-minute Individual Massage Class which will teach you the basics of animal massage. If your goals are simply to connect with your pet and keep an eye on their well-being, this class will give you all of the tools you need. It is also the perfect compliment to a rehab program as this class will give you the tools you need to continue working with your pet at home while supporting their individual rehab journey.

Canine Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese healing system where the practitioner acts as a bridge between “Universal” or “Spiritual” energy and the client to assist the client’s body to rebalance their own energy system to support the natural process of self-healing.  For all animals, reiki maintains and enhances health and promotes relaxation and a sense of well-being and peace.  For animals that are ill, reiki assists the healing process and is an excellent complement to other forms of medicine.  For aging and dying animals, reiki can provide relief from pain and can relieve anxiety and fear.

Reiki is gentle, non-invasive and doesn’t require physical contact.  It doesn’t cause stress, discomfort or pain so it is ideal for use with animals.

The session length is determined by the pet’s tolerance to the session.  What the session actually looks like is guided by the pet.  Some pets are very receptive to the work and allow the practitioner to do a whole body routine.  Others can tolerate only small doses of the work or work done only on certain parts of their body.  The session could last only a few minutes or could go on for as long as half an hour.  The animal will choose when, where and how long they will receive a session.

Wellness Massage for Pets Class

For years people have used massage to reduce stress, alleviate the aches and pains of everyday life, increase flexibility and to simply improve their overall wellness. Our pets can benefit from wellness massage in the same way.

This class will teach you how to massage each part of your pet’s body with the intention of keeping them happy and healthy.  The massage routine you will learn is designed to positively affect all the systems of your pet’s body leaving them with an overall feeling of well-being.  In return, you too will experience positive effects on your mood and emotions and you will be rewarded with an undeniable bond between you and your furry companion.

Skills Covered Include:

  • The benefits of massage on your pet
  • When massage is safe to use on your pet and when it is not
  • Reading your pet’s body language for safety throughout the massage
  • The different types of massage strokes and their appropriate uses
  • A whole body massage for wellness routine
These skills will be learned through a combination of lecture, demo and hands on skills practice.  You may bring your own pet to practice on if they are well behaved and can remain so for the length of the class.  Stuffed demo dogs will be provided for anyone who chooses not to bring a pet with them
